Library Levy Passing!

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

The Library Levy is passing with 59.11%! There are only a handful of ballots left to count, so the percentage is unlikely to change.

Thank You!

The ballots are counted and the voters said YES!!

In ads that will appear next week in the Sequim Gazette, Forks Forum and Peninsula Daily News, we will be sending heartfelt thanks to the voters for assuring a strong and stable library system for years to come.

Of course, this victory would not have been possible without each of you. You came to campaign kickoff meetings, put up large and small signs, wore buttons, showed your support at public forums, authored letters to the editor, waved signs, added your names to endorsement ads, gave money to the campaign and energized your friends and neighbors to vote for the levy lid lift. Your passion and hard work on behalf of improved library services will enhance the quality of life throughout our County.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

Want to Stay Involved?

Do you want to stay involved in the Library now that the campaign is over? Here are some ways:

  • Not yet a member of the Friends of the Library? Here's how to join:
  • Help launch the North Olympic Library Foundation, a private non-profit organization that will be formed to complement the four Friends of the Library groups and provide additional support to the Library for system-wide services, programs and special projects. Contact Library Director Paula Barnes at 360-417-8525 or PBarnes@nols.org for more information.
  • Volunteer. Be a Library insider! Contact Volunteer Coordinator Emily Sly at ESly@nols.org for information on volunteer opportunities at the NOLS library near you.
  • Stay in touch with everything that's happening at NOLS at www.nols.org.
  • Follow NolsLibraries on Twitter. New volunteer Nick has started a Twitter feed about library programs and events.

What about those signs?

Those "Your Libraries - Yes!" signs have been a very important part of the campaign. We've made a commitment to pick them up when the election is over. If you take up your signs, you can bring them to the following locations between Tuesday, August 17 and Friday, August 20:

  • Clallam Bay - Sunsets West Coop, 16732 Hwy 112
  • Port Angeles and Joyce - Zenovic and Associates, 301 East 6th Street
  • Sequim - Blake Tile and Stone, 490 South Blake Avenue
